A Journey of Hope and Transformation

Your partnership helps us bring the hope and healing of Christ to incarcerated women across the United States and around the world.

Through our Searching for Love outreach, The Freedom Project correspondence course, our in‑person Her Journey trauma‑healing classes, and our digital presence on over 500,000 inmate tablets through the Pando App (in partnership with God Behind Bars), we are reaching women in jails and prisons with the life‑changing truth of God’s love.

Current Opportunities to Invest in This Mission

Distribution of “Searching for Love”

Each Searching for Love minibook includes a Business Reply postcard that allows female inmates to indicate a decision for Christ, enroll in The Freedom Project correspondence course, request help with an abusive relationship, or request prayer.

"The Freedom Project" Correspondence Course

Women enrolled in The Freedom Project complete an average of two lessons each month. This ongoing connection provides consistent discipleship, spiritual growth, and encouragement for women behind bars who are hungry to know God and walk in freedom.

"Her Journey" Trauma‑Healing Classes

Her Journey is our 15‑week, in‑person trauma‑healing program offered inside correctional facilities. Grounded in Psalm 23, this class helps women process trauma, understand their identity in Christ, establish healthy boundaries, and experience emotional and spiritual restoration in a safe, supportive environment.

Our Impact

Breaking Cycles

Established in 2015, Empowered Women of God currently operates in 90 facilities across 12 states and has positively impacted the lives of over 4,000 inmates. Empowered Women of God helps incarcerated women envision a bright and productive future upon their release by addressing their trauma in a spiritual context to promote behavioral change. Current expansion plans will allow the organization to reach and empower thousands more women in the very near future.

Incarcerated Women

Trauma Behind Bars

The majority of incarcerated women are survivors of abuse. Nearly 75% of incarcerated women have experienced domestic violence in the year leading up to their offense, and over 90% have endured domestic abuse during their adult lives (The Prison Policy Initiative, 2017; Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1999). Understanding the link between victimization and incarceration is crucial.
