Facet 3 of 3 — Trauma Healing
Her Journey
Trauma Healing Behind Bars · Healing from the Inside Out
Her Journey is the third facet of the Empowered Women of God International ministry:
- Evangelism — "Searching for Love" Minibooks Distributed to Female Inmates
- Discipleship — "The Freedom Project" 30-Lesson Correspondence Course
- Trauma Healing — "Her Journey" 15-Week In-Person Classes
Her Journey is a 15-week, in-person trauma-healing program provided by Empowered Women of God International, specifically designed for incarcerated women who carry deep wounds from abuse, addiction, abandonment, and generational cycles of trauma.
Grounded in faith and built on trauma-informed care, Her Journey meets women exactly where they are: inside their facility, inside their story, and inside the places where healing is needed most.
Program Mission
Equipping women to envision a bright and productive future — upon release and beyond.
What the Program Provides
In-Person Trauma Healing Classes
Delivered on video inside correctional facilities by trained ministry facilitators who understand the unique needs of incarcerated women.
Faith-Centered Healing
Every session integrates biblical truth with trauma-informed principles, helping women process pain through the lens of God’s love and restoration.
Behavioral Transformation
Women learn to recognize harmful patterns of thinking, relating, and choosing — and replace them with healthy, life-giving behaviors.
Mentorship & Support
Participants are never left alone even after re-entry. Ongoing encouragement, accountability, and community walk with each woman through her healing journey and beyond.
Pre-Release Preparation
Her Journey addresses the unhealthy relationships and cycles most likely to lead to re-offending — empowering women to step into freedom with clarity and confidence.
Testimonials
I just read Searching for Love. I, too, am a victim of domestic violence. I fought back, and my abuser lost his life, [which is] why I’m in jail.
While in Jail (and before jail), God had been calling me to turn my life to Him,
I’m very interested in receiving your material and guidance. Please send me anything you have that may help me on my spiritual journey.

I struggled for years to even read the Bible due to a bad experience where the Bible was read during the times I was beat[en] by my husband. Since then, I have begun reading the Bible and trying to live according to God’s will.
I feel that I make more progress daily and even more since beginning my studies with Empowered Women of God. I discover something new about myself with each study.

My incarceration is a blessing in disguise. It saved my life from the jaws of fentanyl addiction. I died so many times out there. I became suicidal almost because I couldn’t care less if I did die — I would have welcomed it. But now I’m grateful to be alive. I love who I’m becoming… I’m grateful for Jesus, who loved me through it and never turned His back on me, even when I did. And I’m thankful for you ladies taking the time to do this for us. You’re special and wonderful.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
Bring Her Journey to Your Facility
For Chaplains, Ministry Leaders & Volunteers
We partner with correctional facilities nationwide to offer Her Journey at no cost to the facility or the women.
We always prioritize facilitators who are:
- Already familiar with the facility
- Currently serving inside
- Pre-approved through the DOC
If outside facilitators are needed, we can provide them — the approval process may simply take a little longer.
