The Freedom Project

“The Freedom Project” is a 30-lesson, faith-based correspondence course. It focuses on essential life skills while fostering a connection with God. Unlike other programs that mainly teach coping skills, this initiative facilitates true change by spiritually addressing the root issues of trauma that lead women back to abusive relationships, thereby reducing the likelihood of recidivism.

Once inmates respond by mailing in the perforated postcard attached to the back cover of “Searching for Love”, they receive an introduction to the course, a scholarship covering the full cost of the course, and an invitation to enroll. The program is presented in a relatable and accessible format, and covers various topics, including communication, personal care, and forgiveness, one chapter at a time. The lessons are designed to resonate with women who may have limited education. Participants work through the course one chapter at a time, receiving guidance from the Empowered Women of God staff and volunteers.

Empowered Women of God aims to prepare incarcerated women for a brighter future, free from harmful cycles. Through mentoring and discipleship, the program encourages participants to embrace a Christ-centered life as they re-enter society. This initiative not only impacts the lives of those behind prison walls but also fosters a supportive community upon their release. Inmates are welcome to continue their lessons if they are paroled or released.

Testimonials

“I love each and every one of these studies. I still have every single one because they mean that much to me. They have truly helped me in my walk with the Lord God Almighty. I pray that these studies have as much meaning to [others] as they do in my life.”
